paleo almond sauce recipe sriracha sauce

This is a delicious almond version of the traditional Thai peanut sauce. Behold the Paleo Thai Almond Sauce recipe, spicy and deliciously balanced with maple syrup.   For health reasons I eliminated peanuts from my diet a few years ago, I was pretty disappointed because I loved peanut sauce with my rice paper rolls and in traditional Thai dishes.  But after some experimentation, I came up with this alternative recipe.  This sauce is so good and so healthy that I don’t even want to go to a restaurant for Thai food anymore because there is no peanut sauce that compares in taste with this almond version.  Also, I don’t feel guilty indulging in this sauce because I know it’s actually good for me!

The best part is that it’s simple, 4 ingredients and that’s it!  Your busy, but you’ll be sure to whip this up in no time.   Sometimes less is more.

Health Benefits of  Almond Butter and Maple Syrup

Almond butter is packed with antioxidants and magnesium is know to be good for your heart, your skin, helps boost your energy, helps fight cancer, and is a natural anti-aging food.  Maple syrup is loaded with zinc, potassium and calcium,  also helps with inflammatory diseases,  and is one of the best refined sugar substitutes out there (besides honey).

Health Benefits of  Sriracha Sauce

The benefits of sriracha sauce are also numerous,  the main ingredient are red chili peppers which contain Capsaicin that have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It is also know to aid in weight loss by shrinking fat tissue and boosting your metabolism.  Chili peppers are energizing for your body and have potential to boost your mood.   Many foods can make us tired after eating, I often just want to relax on a couch and take it easy.  Not with this almond sauce recipe,  the sriracha sauce makes me feel energized and I feel like I’m ready to go to the gym or take a walk!  When purchasing sriracha sauce try to find a organic version as some have unwanted preservatives.

Servings: +/- 4

Total of 10 minutes to make

Ingredients

6 Tablespoons (90 grams) Almond butter

1/2 Cup  Almond milk (or coconut milk)

2 Tablespoons Sriracha Sauce

2 Tablespoons Maple syrup

Pinch of green onions (optional)

Preparation, easy as 1, 2, 3…

  1.  Place almond butter, almond milk, sriracha sauce, and maple syrup in pot and cook on low heat.
  2.  Once ingredients have warmed up, thoroughly mix together, until the texture is smooth and uniform.
  3.  Cook for 10 minutes or until all ingredients are uniform.  Once cool and add a pinch of green onions (optional).

One Last Note

Feel free to play around with the ingredients, you can make the sauce as thick or thin as you like, just add more almond milk when cooking. Also you can add less or more of the maple syrup depending on how sweet you like the sauce.  Feel free to add less sriracha sauce if you don’t want the sauce very spicy, you can also substitute the sriracha sauce with  1/2 tablespoon of crushed red pepper as it’s more concentrated.
